How to Embrace the Holiday Season with Joyful Home Styling

It’s that time of year again! With the holiday season fast approaching, we understand how important it is to find that ideal “happy holiday” feeling in the comfort of your own home.

For some, it’s creating a joyful space to entertain and welcome friends and family. Festive interior décor. Cozy seasonal pieces. For others, it’s creating a bright space that feels fresh, open and new – to help you ring in the new year with a new lease on life!

No matter what interior decorating happy place for the holidays speaks to you, we have a gift bag full of seasonal ideas to explore!

1. Spruce up your outdoor space for entertainment

Nothing says holiday season like an outdoor area to chill, eat, drink and be merry! Having guests over? Start by adding some festive (but classy) fairy lights to your sitting area. Integrate more outdoor cheer and hang a little holly or mistletoe (if you’re feeling cheeky). Place a poinsettia or two in our gorgeous new macrame plant hangers to add an extra pop of colour.

2. Give your greenery some interior décor love

Sure. Christmas trees are popular this time of year. But if they aren’t your vibe OR you’re just looking for an alternative way of adding holiday cheer to the plant life in your home (you know, without adding a giant tree), try accessorising! Add sparkling clips and pieces like cute bees, flowers or critters. Keep it magical and unexpected.

3. Embrace the festive season with our statement cabinet hardware

We love walking into homes that know how to beautifully embrace that holiday feeling. You know the ones. The perfect mantel. A gorgeous tree. That holiday scent. Why not go next level with our collection of Deer or Star knobs as a finishing touch? Want something that can work all year round but still add a festive flair for the season? Check out our gorgeous (if we may say so ourselves) Gold and Silver Sliced Sphere Knobs.

4. Brighten your space with a fresh lick of paint

Add some cheer and sunshine with a fresh coat of paint! Hit the kitchen to brighten up your morning coffee time. Lay it down in the bedroom to wake up with a smile on your face. Whatever room you choose, a fresh coat of paint can put a pep in your step!

5. Get hooked on our new Beech Wood Wall Hooks

Sustainable, beautiful and perfect for hanging stockings and festive lights in your living room. Have a holiday to-do list a mile long? Hang a festive blackboard on a cheerful Rattan and Beech Wood Wall Hook – stay organised while keeping your home looking fabulous.

6. Get your zen garden on for the new year

If your new year’s resolution incorporates more “me-time”, set up a space outside with cosy outdoor pillows, candles, aromatic flowers (we love us some jasmine) and simple outdoor home styling pieces that support your sense of calm.

7. Upcycle and breathe new life into old furniture

Do.Upper Kim @restorereviverepeat gave new life to this beautiful cabinet set. We’re drooling over this home styling. A fresh coat of paint, our Grey Circle Knobs with Brass Trim and pretty potted plants. How easy is that?

8. Switch up the kids’ advent chocolate for something that lasts

The choices are endless (and the sugar high doesn’t have to be)! Advent calendar trains and Legos to books, cars and even personalised letters from Santa’s elves. Why not try a new kind of calendar for your kiddos to enjoy and decorate their room with this holiday?

9. Dish out some dining table interior décor

Feeling fancy and ready to rock a dinner party? Get your dining table décor on for the holidays. We’re talking table runners, charger plates and of course, candles and epically festive centrepieces. From chill and no frills to bold and holiday bright, dining table decorating can be a totally fun-filled affair.

10. Get cosy with your interior decorating

For some, the holiday season brings feelings of quiet cosiness. Why not embrace the warmth with soft throws or cuddly pillows? If you have a mantel (even if your fireplace doesn’t work!), add a collection of candles to amp up your meditative sense of cosy.

11. A bright and airy bedroom oasis

Transform your bedroom into a bright, airy oasis to retreat to. Rest and rejuvenate for the new year ahead. A simple swap of bedding or new décor elements can work wonders. Or go all out like our Do.Upper Tamee @tameerenebrancati has done! We love how she integrated our White Wedged Marble Pulls on her gorgeous upcycled bedside tables. Talk about a serene space…

12. Did you say caravan interior decorating?

Yes we did. If you’re a Do.Upper rocking a caravan reno, give your cool space some love with fresh new upholstery, bright pieces of art and a potted plant or two. Love plants. Will travel.

13. Bring precious outdoor finds indoors

Add a touch of nature to your interior décor. Spend time outside and forage for foliage to add to your favourite vase – or even use branches in frames or as part of a table setting for creative DIY works of art.

14. Ring in the new year with a delightful declutter

Everyone talks about the big spring clean. But what about the big new year’s clean? The beginning of the new year is the perfect time to tackle that room – you know the one we’re talking about – that could use a declutter, some reorganisation and some extra TLC. When your home feels clean, fresh and bright it does wonders for your spirit. Take our word for it.

15. Bring on the summer and sea

Incorporate shells to embrace those “ahhhh”some coastal vibes for our Aussie Do.Uppers. Try our easy, breezy and sustainable Shell and Pompom Cotton Curtain Tie Back to let in that summer sun and remind you of good times spent by the ocean.
