You may have caught a Chronicle here or there lately if you’re a regular reader of the Do.Up blog. We got so excited interviewing all of these amazing creative folk that we didn’t take a beat to explain what the Do.Upper Chronicles are all about (we hope you forgive us for this faux pas!).
The interior design and styling industry is chockablock full of wonderfully talented, unique and creative individuals who inspire us every day. It’s why we thought it was high time to create a place where we can showcase our muses and inspire you to start your journey as a maker.
Hold up – what’s a ‘Do.Upper’?
This is our pet name for the incredible humans who use our products in their restoration or upcycling projects. Anyone can be a ‘Do.Upper’, no matter your skill level or age – all you need to have is a passion for making, a little design know-how and the determination to get the job done.
Why we started the Do.Upper Chronicles
We pride ourselves on being the go-to source of inspired furniture restoration hardware and accessories, like cabinet knobs, decorative wall hooks and curtain tie backs. With this in mind, we select products that are on-trend, imaginative and accessible. Why? Because we want everyone to create spaces that are as unique as they are.
The Do.Upper Chronicles aims to spark ideas, share the triumphs (and challenges) of the creative process and show you what’s truly possible when you go ‘all in’ on your passions and side hustles. Each interview is fun and relaxed, featuring DIY and/or upcycling projects, as well as insider tips on how to improve your craft.
To inspired the Do.Up community
Every Chronicles is infused with inspiration: from the eye-catching furniture our talented Do.Uppers make, to the trajectories of their careers. You can learn so much from the experience of others, like how influential travel has been in the interior design style of Sophie Gunnerson.
To showcase creativity in a variety of ways
We’re ALL creative, we just might show it in different ways to each other. On the Chronicles, you’ll spot some next-level upcyclers, but mixed in are also both new and established makers from other industries.
Creativity can’t be pigeonholed and neither should you. Our hope is that you read these interviews with architects like Laura Litcanu from Unfold Architecture, furniture restorers like Nina Verdier and other home DIYers, and see a bit of yourself reflected back in their stories. Whether you’re a stay-home mum restoring kids furniture on the weekends, or a tradie who upcycles dining tables for fun – when we celebrate creativity, everyone wins!
To define what it means to ‘reject the ordinary’
It’s time to ditch the generic flat-pack furniture and unleash your imagination. Rejecting the ordinary means creating spaces that are authentically YOU. We hope that our cabinet pulls, drawer handles, wall hooks and more inspire you to think wider and dream bigger to go against the grain (pun intended) of what’s expected.
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not possible because as you can see, our Do.Upper Chronicles are living proof!
